E-Center Velbert

Structural change in Southern Velbert

The city of Velbert is located in the Mettmann district and is also referred to as the heart of the Niederbergisches Land region. Despite a population of about 85,000, the city does not have a modern consumer market. Thus, the City-Park business center south of the downtown area as well as the unused area of the former foundry Woeste are ideal for further development. Together with the owner Woeste and HBB, the city of Velbert is planning to reactivate the industrial area which has been out of use with the help of a large-scale retailing operation focusing on local supply, as well as with the help of developing a residential area.

Fitting completely into overall concept

Accordingly, HBB will build a shopping center with concessionaires in the former industrial area with about 7,500 m² in rental area overall. In addition, a new residential area close to downtown is also to be built on the industrial wasteland of 70,000 m² overall, owned by Woeste. A partial area of 25,000 m² is planned for the consumer market. Not only will there be new ways of use, but the area will also be improved by being completely replanned. The new development of retail and residential areas will be conducted in coordination with the existing use of the City-Park business center, which already has numerous retail and other services.

The demolition of the area is still to be started in 2012. The opening of the shopping center is planned for the year 2013.
