Uelzen Retail Park

New variety instead of old parking lot 1)

After winning a Europe-wide tender, HBB was awarded the contract to build a retail park on the market square of the City of Uelzen close to downtown in Lower Saxony. The ongoing urban development planning process is supposed to be pressed ahead with once the contract has been signed, and it is planned to be completed by the summer break.

HBB will be building a three-story retail park on a former parking lot that will accommodate a large hypermarket with about 4,000 m² in retail space and a consumer electronics retail store with about 2,500 to 3,000 m² in retail space. HBB will also build a parking lot with about 640 parking spaces that will be available not only to the mall’s visitors: around 300 parking spaces will be available to all residents of Uelzen as long-term parking spaces that will give them an opportunity to park close to downtown during retail business hours.

As soon as the urban development plan is completed in the summer, HBB will file an application for a construction permit for the project. I.e., construction could start as early as this year. The total investment volume, incl. tenant fixtures, amounts to about 25 million Euros. This project will create about 100 new jobs.

Repair of the city center 2)

The contract includes filling the space between the buildings on Schuhstraße/Mühlenstraße. A valid development plan is already available. HBB is planning to build a downtown residential complex on Schuhstraße with additional retail units on the ground floor. The multi-story roadside complex on both Mühlenstraße and Schuhstraße will include attractive townhouses that can also be subdivided into single residential units. These units can be purchased or leased. In addition to that, HBB will also check whether it will be possible to offer assisted living at this location.

This project is a long overdue city repair project, and it is supposed to be implemented parallel to the market square construction project and completed in the spring of 2013.
