Lehrte Commercial Building "Zuckerfabrik"
"Zuckerfabrik” project continues to grow
Prime example of how a former industrial area has been further developed and turned into a long-term success story: HBB had opened the shopping mall “Zuckerfabrik Lehrte” already in 2005. This project has effectively revitalized part of the 200,000 m2 large abandoned site of Nordzucker AG by introducing a commercial, service and entertainment center, among others, with anchor tenants EDEKA, EHG expert, and the drugstore chain dm on a gross floor area of about 20,000 m². This way, HBB contributed to making a successful change in downtown Lehrte. The continuous further development over the past years, which is now being continued with the construction of a new commercial building, shows that HBB’s commitment was not only of a short-term nature.
Reviving the city center
HBB is planning to build a two-story commercial building with an appealing façade on an adjacent plot between the main shopping street and the new shopping mall. The about 3,200 m2 large property will accommodate about 3,000 m2 of rental space for key tenants that have already signed a lease, including a major fashion store, a shoe store, and other retailers and service providers. New restaurants on the forecourt on Burgdorfer Straße are supposed to further revive the city center. The center is expected to be opened in fall 2012.
