Worms DOMICIL long-term care facility Brauereistraße
Between Tradition and Modernity
Steeped in history, the Nibelung city of Worms is one of the oldest cities in Germany, picturesquely situated between the Forest of Odes and the Palatinate Forest on the banks of the Rhine. Here, on Brauereistrasse, in the district of Westend, is where the new DOMICIL senior nursing home is being built. The historic district with its famous Cathedral of St. Peter is only 500 meters away; public transit stops practically right outside the door. The building is located in a new area being developed with residential as well as commercial buildings.
Inviting and personal
HBB started construction of this property, totaling 6,700 m² of gross area, on the site of the former Apostel brewery in a modern urban context in November 2009. Accordingly, the designers, Architects Broll + Förster, have decided on a contemporary architectural expression that combines no-frills rectilinearity with an inviting character. Small and personally guided residential groups will support a modern concept of caregiving and nursing for 123 future residents, who will also have a place for relaxation at their disposal in the adjacent garden. After completion, the building will offer employment to 70 people from the region. Model rooms have been available for viewing on request since September 2010.
HBB is investing a total of 13 million euros in the project, and at the end of March 2011 it will turn over the project to the management of DOMICIL.
