Berlin-Steglitz DOMICIL long-term care facility Feuerbachstraße
Quiet location in the Wilhelminian quarter
In the bourgeois and green Berlin district Steglitz, the second DOMICIL long-term care facility, and the ninth overall in Berlin, is already being built. After the opening of the home at Altmarkstraße in 2008, HBB now realizes another, equally attractive new home on the corner of Lauenburger Straße and Feuerbachstraße for 121 residents. The V-shaped building is being built on a property of approximately 2,000 m² and has an inner courtyard with a garden. The residents-to-be will get to enjoy the proximity to Schlossstraße as well, which is deemed one of the biggest shopping streets in Southern Berlin.
Classical design, modern construction
Built by building company WOLFF & MÜLLER and designed by the Berlin architects Broll-Förster, the home receives a classically designed façade with big windows. The home excellently fits in the architectural style of the quarter with its roof in the manner of a gabled roof, dormer windows and terraces. In addition, the home has a high recognition value due to characteristic details, such as its stucco or its clinker bricks on the outside. On the inside, it offers cozy rooms for the new residents, which are all significantly bigger than provided by the minimum building regulations for nursing homes. Moreover, most of these rooms are single rooms. Besides living comfort, energy efficiency is a priority as well: due to modern HVACR and insulation, the building uses up about 30 % less energy than a comparable new construction, and is thus a "KfW-Effizienzhaus 70" [a building which uses up 70% of the energy according to the efficiency standards as provided by EnEV, with respective funding by the KfW].
