HBB becomes a specialized developer for public clients
- New construction of a combined border and inland customs office with office building and security facilities
- HBB is the successful winner of a complex tendering process for a public client
- Fast realization with completion in 2024 despite difficult market situation
HBB can also handle customs. In the Ostseepark industrial estate in Schwentinental on the city border with Kiel, HBB will be building a combined border and inland customs office on a commercial property at Gutenbergstrasse 22-24 from June. A two-story office building with 6.000 square meters of usable space will be built on the almost 1.500 square meter property, which will be built with special security requirements and in accordance with the latest energy standards. Extensive outdoor facilities will also be built, including an inspection ramp for trucks. The investment volume is in the low double-digit million range. Inland customs offices are the contact point for companies and private individuals for all questions relating to customs clearance and cross-border trade in goods within their area of responsibility. Inland customs offices carry out all preparations and formalities for exporting goods or for customs clearance after import. The BIMA Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks had been looking for a new and suitable location for a customs office in the vicinity of Kiel harbor for years. In a complex tendering process in 2022, HBB was able to prevail with its location and concept. The complex is expected to go into operation in summer 2024 and be handed over to BIMA. The company List Bau from Nordhorn is responsible for the construction work, while Ehlert & Söhne from Hamburg carried out the demolition. The planning was done by the architectural firm nhp from Seevetal. HBB Managing Director Harald Ortner is pleased about the start of construction: "We are happy to be able to implement exciting projects even in this difficult situation on the real estate market. The new construction of a customs office shows the diversity and flexibility of the HBB Group." With the construction of the customs office, HBB has now established itself as a specialized developer for public buildings and building owners. In addition to the construction project in Schwentinental, HBB is realizing an administrative complex with 15.000 square meters of rental space for the city administration in Bochum; a library was previously built for the city in Hanau.
