HBB builds first Domicil senior care home in Saarbrücken

Saarbrücken – The investor HBB Hanseatische Gesellschaft für Seniorenimmobilien II mbH & Co. KG from Hamburg is building its first senior care home in Saarbrücken in the St. Arnual district. Construction is expected to begin in July 2021. The ARGE DOMICIL-Seniorenpflegeheim Saarbrücken, consisting of Peter-Gross Hoch- und Generalbau GmbH & Co. KG from St. Ingbert and Wolff Hoch- und Ingenieurbau GmbH & Co. KG from Saarbrücken, has been commissioned to build the home.
Demolition work began in March 2021. Construction is expected to begin in July of this year, and the building is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2023.
The new senior care home was planned by the respected Berlin-based architectural firm Broll Förster Architekten. The architecture, with a white plastered facade and tiled mansard roof, reinterprets the architectural language of the St. Arnual district and blends harmoniously into the surroundings. The building consists of a basement section and 4 floors as well as an attic. The house will accommodate 137 residents. Almost all of the residents' rooms will be single rooms, the size of which exceeds legal requirements and allows for individual design by the residents, who can bring their own furniture if they wish.
The plot between Lehmkauweg and Sigebertstraße is around 4.700 m² in size. The southern part is characterized by a dense tree population. Along the northern Sigebertstraße, the L-shaped building, which covers around 9.000 m² of gross floor space, forms an urban boundary that encloses a protected, high-quality garden area. The garden planning by the renowned Kiel landscape architect BHF envisages a lovingly landscaped garden with selected plants that invites you to take a stroll or linger.
HBB has acquired the property from the Christkönig parish. The project was developed in very close and constructive coordination between the Diocese of Trier, the parish, the city and HBB. The Christkönig parish and HBB plan to continue the cooperation in the later operation with regard to events and community work, according to HBB managing director Oliver Radünz. Another DOMICIL senior care home is being built here, which will become a social contact point in the middle of the district.
HBB is investing around 22 million euros in the project. Around 80 new jobs will be created.
