Many new projects in Bochum city centre 

Hamburg / Bochum, June 26.06.2020, 160: The foundation stone has been laid for the Viktoria Karree Bochum business district. The 38.000 million euro project is being built on the site of the former justice center on Viktoriastraße in the city center. Here, Hamburg's HBB is building an open business district with three multi-story buildings and 500 square meters of rental space plus an underground car park with more than XNUMX parking spaces. The project is part of the city of Bochum's inner-city offensive.

Construction work for the HBB business quarter already in full swing

The construction site is in full swing. Since February 2019, the old buildings of the justice center have been professionally cleared of pollutants and then demolished. Now the August Prien company is taking over the construction site from the demolition company Moß. August Prien is working in a joint venture with the Hans Lamers company, and the facades will be built by Medicke. The entire construction period will be more than two years, and the completion of the complex overall project with various structures is scheduled for 2022. The project already has a high occupancy rate, with tenants already confirmed including Rewe Dortmund, easy Apotheke, Decathlon Sport, the Holiday Inn Express hotel with operator Tristar, Regus Co-Working, the city of Bochum and “Bochum Wirtschaftsentwicklung” as the parking garage operator.

 HBB project as part of the new inner city initiative

After winning an international tender for the development of a new inner-city district in 2014, HBB developed and coordinated the project together with the Düsseldorf-based architectural firm RKW+ and those responsible in the city of Bochum. Harald Ortner, Managing Director of HBB, is therefore visibly pleased with the great progress of the project: "As a developer, you naturally always strive to implement new projects quickly. After a long preparation period, we are all the more pleased to be able to realize an important building block for the future development of the inner city."

Vision City Center 2030

The Viktoria Karree is one of the initial projects for the future inner-city development of the city of Bochum. Numerous inner-city projects are to be started on the basis of the integrated urban development concept (ISEK). The competition for the conversion of the neighboring Husemannplatz was recently completed, and implementation is to take place shortly. In the immediate vicinity of the HBB project, the city will build the "House of Knowledge" on the so-called Telekomblock over the next few years, with the adult education center, the city library and a market hall. Viktoriastraße will thus become the connecting axis for the renewal of the inner city. Thomas Eiskirch, Mayor of the City of Bochum, commented: "The Viktoria Karree has a special signal effect for the inner city. Only through the combination of public measures and private investment will we be able to implement our development goals for the inner city."
