HBB hands over newly built customs office in Schwentinental to BIMA

Hamburg, August 08, 2024 - The HBB Hanseatische Betreuungs- und Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH has officially handed over the newly built customs office in Schwentinental to the Federal Agency for Real Estate (BIMA).
In 2022, HBB was able to prevail in a complex tendering process and was commissioned to realize the new customs office. Despite the challenging market situation, the project was now completed on schedule and handed over to BIMA. The construction company List Bau from Nordhorn took over the construction work, while Ehlert & Söhne from Hamburg carried out the demolition. The planning comes from the architectural firm nhp from Seevetal.
The customs office, which is located in the Ostseepark industrial estate in Schwentinental on the outskirts of Kiel, comprises a two-story office building with 1.500 square meters of usable space. On the almost 6.000 square meter plot at Gutenbergstrasse 22-24, extensive outdoor facilities were built next to the office building, including an inspection ramp for trucks. The new building was built with special safety requirements and in accordance with the latest energy standards. The investment volume was in the low double-digit million range.
The new customs office in Schwentinental will serve as both a border and an inland customs office, offering comprehensive services for companies and private individuals in the areas of customs clearance and cross-border trade in goods. BIMA had been looking for a suitable location in the vicinity of Kiel harbor for years and has now found the right solution with the new customs office.
