New entrance gate for Ahlen's city center
A new entrance to the pedestrian zone and a useful addition to the shopping offer for the citizens - this is the commercial building on Oststraße, which the HBB built in Ahlen, Westphalia. On a plot of around 3.300 m2 A two-storey building was built on a large plot of land, removing what had been a wasteland for years and was a former hotel. The plot of land to be built on included not only the hotel, but also part of the former savings bank and a former residential and commercial building. An underground car park with 40 parking spaces will also be retained.
Buildings with Signal Effect
The striking building has a striking clinker brick facade and creates an important signal effect as an entrance gate to the eastern part of the city. The facade and design of the building, based on a design by the Zakowski architectural firm from Arnsberg, were previously agreed upon in intensive negotiations with the administration and the design advisory board of the city of Ahlen. The rental space of almost 4.000 m² is fully rented, and the tenants include the textile store C & A, the drugstore Rossmann, the shoe retailer Reno and the household goods and furnishings store Depot. The commercial building also has a range of restaurants. After the gutting work began in December 2013, the building was completed in spring 15 after a construction period of 2015 months.
