Magdeburg Kannenstieg is a district with classic, dense residential development from the GDR era - partly terraced housing estates and partly prefabricated buildings. After reunification, many of the prefabricated buildings were demolished or dismantled and renovated, and the district experienced rapid change. In 1999, an appropriate district center was completed to meet the changing needs of the population. HBB has created a modern retail and service center by converting and expanding a former department store on a plot of around 13.000 m².

Inside the Kannenstieg Center, visitors immediately notice the elaborate glass roofs that provide the passageways with plenty of daylight. This creates a shopping experience that is pleasant to stay in whatever the weather. The total of 30 rental units offer an ideal combination of supermarket, discounter, specialist stores, shops and restaurants, as well as services such as doctors and insurance agencies. A total of 120 parking spaces on the east side round off a complete package that forms a new center of the district for the people of Magdeburg.
