city center brought to life
In the heart of the Lüneburg Heath lies the district town of Soltau, also known for tourist attractions such as Heidepark Soltau, the Soltau thermal baths and the nearby Walsrode bird park. The centre of the pedestrian zone in the city centre is the so-called Hagen, actually an address with a pleasant atmosphere. However, a commercial property that had been vacant for several years had - as the local press wrote - turned the property into an eyesore. That was the starting point for HBB, which became active in Soltau in 2007.
Smooth Change
Within just two years, HBB completed the complete redesign of the area - including conception, planning, acquisition of land, demolition and new construction. With a volume of around 5.200 m², a small department store was built and a second building, a grocery store, connected by a parking lot. The architecture, designed by the Seevetal-based office nhp partnership, blends harmoniously into the townscape with its brick facades and the gables typical of Soltau. Thanks to HBB's contacts, the clothing chain C&A was acquired as a tenant, and other offers such as a drugstore and a shoe shop as well as office space ensure the successful revitalization of Soltau's "living room".
