Waldach Passage Nagold
harmony of nature and city
The town of Nagold in the foothills of the Black Forest lies in the valley of the river of the same name and its tributary, the Waldach. It is bordered on almost all sides by wooded hills - a green, natural landscape with a pleasant atmosphere. On the edge of the centre of Nagold there was a wasteland belonging to the Gambrinus brewery, which closed in 1993, and which HBB has breathed new life into. At the same time, the town was renaturalising the immediately adjacent Waldach river, so that a modern shopping centre had to be carefully brought into the attractive, green landscape.
Excellent architecture
The appropriate design comes from the Düsseldorf office RKW Architektur + Städtebau. The core theme of the design of the Waldach Passage is the contrast between city and nature: it presents an urban face towards the street, while a gabion wall as a facade towards the river plays with natural materials. After almost ten months of construction, a modern shopping center with an EDEKA supermarket, offices, shops, restaurants, ground-level parking spaces and two parking decks was completed in September 2006. Pleasant recognition: In 2007, the project received a building owner's award from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Chamber of Architects of Baden-Württemberg.
