Successful urban redevelopment in Heidekreis

The town of Walsrode is located in the heart of the Lüneburg Heath in the Heidekreis district. Although it is only home to 23.000 people, it has a large catchment area. Originating from a street village, it is characterized by a ribbon-like structure with the two parallel main streets Moorstrasse and Lange Strasse. This ribbon has now been broken up by a new business center with three buildings, which has led to a significant revitalization of the city center and a connection between the two main axes.

Local offers expanded

For the business center, an existing building was partially demolished and extensively modernized to accommodate the retail space and expanded with a new building. Two other buildings are completely new buildings. The three of them include a central ground-level parking area with around 100 parking spaces. The nhp office from Seevetal near Hamburg is responsible for the design. The architecture, with a varied facade made of clinker and plaster, adapts to the local conditions. The anchor tenants C&A and Netto were already confirmed as users; both gave up existing, outdated locations in order to position themselves optimally for the future. A dm drugstore, Depot and suppliers from the clothing and sports sectors as well as service and catering businesses have also moved in. In total, a total rental area of around 7.300 m² was available.
