City-Center Kehl
Cross-border attraction
A city between countries: The medium-sized town of Kehl in the Upper Rhine Plain is located on the Rhine, directly opposite Strasbourg in France, which can be reached on foot via the symbolic Europa Bridge. The German federal highway B28 runs over the bridge and becomes the French N4. The site on which HBB was to build a new shopping center in close coordination with the Kehl city administration in order to increase the centrality of the border town is located directly on the B28 - and thus perfectly connected for French visitors too.
Interesting mix of industries
Following a council resolution in 2006, HBB built the City Center Kehl with a total project volume of around 32.000 m² gross floor area. The design by the regionally recognized architectural firm Werkgruppe Lahr included a modern shopping property with two floors and a parking garage with around 470 parking spaces. The architectural highlight is the glass-covered rotunda inside the building. In addition to renowned anchor tenants such as EDEKA, Expert and C&A, other well-known chain stores and regional providers have settled here, offering customers in the City Center Kehl an interesting mix of industries.
