E-Center Velbert

Structural Change in the South of Velbert

The city of Velbert is located in the Mettmann district and is also known as the heart of the Niederberg region. Despite having around 85.000 inhabitants, it does not have a modern supermarket. Therefore, the City Park south of the city center and the disused area of the former Woeste foundry were ideal for further development. Together with the owner Woeste and the HBB, the city of Velbert has reactivated the disused industrial site with a large-scale retail operation with a focus on local supplies and by developing a residential area.

Coherently integrated into the overall concept

HBB built an E-Center with concessionaires on the former industrial site with a total of around 7.500 m² of rental space. In addition, a new residential area close to the city center was built on the 70.000 m² industrial wasteland owned by Woeste. Not only were new uses created, but the development of the site was also completely reorganized. The new settlement of retail and residential properties took place in coordination with the existing uses of the City Park, which is already home to numerous retail and service uses.
