W1-Wandsbek Hamburg

Kick-off for the shopping mile

The Wandsbeker Marktstrasse runs through the Hamburg district of Wandsbek. It is the lifeline and shopping mile of the district located northeast of the city center. On a corner plot of around 7,600 m² on Brauhausstrasse, HBB built a new, attractive opening for this important street. Based on a design by the Hamburg architectural firm Schild Architekten, a six-story commercial building has been constructed. Of these, three floors are for retail on around 10,500 m² of leasable space, while a total of around 315 car parking spaces are available on three roof parking levels above.

Reminiscence of local culture

In terms of urban development, the commercial building blends in with the surrounding buildings, but its elevated facade towards the street intersection gives it an emphatically visible presence with a generous opening onto Wandsbeker Marktstrasse. On all sides, the building is characterized by dynamic, partially rounded facades whose choice of materials picks up on the brick building culture of Wandsbek.

Tenants are a REWE fresh food store on approx. 3,500 m², the first Decathlon sports store in Hamburg on approx. 4,000 m², a dm drugstore and other suppliers from the retail and service sectors.

The opening took place in September 2016.
