W1-Wandsbek Hamburg
start of the shopping mile
Wandsbeker Marktstrasse runs through the Hamburg district of Wandsbek. It is the lifeline and shopping mile of the district located northeast of the city center. On a corner plot of around 7.600 m² on Brauhausstrasse, HBB built a new, attractive start to this important street. Based on a design by the Hamburg architectural firm Schild Architekten, a six-story commercial building was built. Three of these floors are for retail on around 10.500 m² of rental space, while a total of around 315 parking spaces are available on the three roof parking levels above.
reminiscence of local culture
In terms of urban development, the commercial building is connected to the surrounding buildings, but has a particularly visible presence thanks to a raised facade towards the street crossing with a generous opening onto Wandsbeker Marktstrasse. On all sides, the building is characterized by dynamic, partially rounded facades, the choice of materials of which reflects the brick building culture of Wandsbek.
Tenants include a REWE fresh market on approx. 3.500 m², the first Decathlon sports store in Hamburg on approx. 4.000 m², a dm drugstore and other providers from the retail and service sectors.
The opening took place in September 2016.
