Rathaus-Galerien Herten
From the swimming pool to the shopping center
The Rathaus-Galerien, which opened in November, are located in the center of the town of Herten, which belongs to the district of Recklinghausen in the Ruhr region. The conveniently located location opposite the town hall and at the entrance to the pedestrian zone had long been occupied by the former municipal swimming pool and the post office and Telekom. The indoor swimming pool and the surrounding properties of the post office and Telekom were to make way for a modern shopping center. In close coordination with the city, HBB was able to realize a multi-story shopping and service center here to strengthen the city center.
Colorful accents
Particular attention was paid to preserving the basic structure of the pool, which was sensitively integrated into the modern architecture of the construction project. Another highlight of the building are the facades, which add colorful accents to the city center with elaborate blue glass elements. The anchor tenant of the project is the Kaufland Foundation from Neckarsulm. On the ground floor, Herten residents will also find shops run by local operators and several specialist stores, while a medical center, an additional physiotherapy practice and office space for the Federal Miners' Association have found attractive spaces on the upper floors. With around 380 parking spaces on two interior parking levels, all of the facilities are within easy reach.
