  • HBB concludes new rental agreements with EDEKA, Woolworth, Rossmann and K+K
  • Development plan takes next hurdle

Minden/Hamburg, 03.05.2019. In 2017, the HBB Hanseatische Betreuungs- und Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (HBB) presented ideas for a new shopping district for the first time. After a phase of intensive planning, HBB was now able to conclude important rental agreements with the anchor tenants of the planned district. The development plan process is also entering the next important phase.

Interesting tenant mix
 EDEKA, Woolworth, Rossmann, K+K Shoe Market and others: The tenant mix consists of several anchor tenants who, as attractive retail magnets, complement the inner-city offering that is in need of improvement. In addition to an attractive and fresh-oriented food market from EDEKA, the drugstore provider Rossmann will be setting up a new and modern location at the site. There will also be the Woolworth department store, which continues the tradition of the former department store, as well as other specialist stores and shops with typical inner-city product ranges. The project comprises almost 7.000 square meters of rental space with eight tenants on two retail levels. The food market extends over the lower level with direct access to the 140 public and ground-level parking spaces. A modern EDEKA center with a feel-good atmosphere is being built on around 2.400 square meters of sales area. With a range of around 25.000 items, customers will find a wide selection of products - from GOOD & CHEAP products at discount prices to branded items and regional, national and international specialties. The new, large Woolworth and Rossmann markets are being built on the upper level, which is connected to the pedestrian zone. The shoe retailer K+K Shoe Market will also open a modern store here. Heino Schmidt, EDEKA's Head of Expansion/Site Security, is delighted with the conclusion of the new lease: "We have always been convinced of this location and are pleased that we can offer our customers a modern and exciting local supply in the center of Lübbecke. These are the concepts of the future. Together with the other tenants, the business district will be set up sustainably and crisis-proof. HBB is exactly the right partner for this."

Good location
The HBB is using the excellent location at the end of the pedestrian zone, the connection to the city center as well as the excellent transport links and visibility of the property to develop a contemporary shopping district in Lübbecke. This will strengthen the city center and close existing gaps in the retail structure. The entire area around the former Deerberg department store and the municipal parking garage will be upgraded in terms of urban development and integrated into the urban context. The parking lot will be built on the current site of the bus station, which will be relocated and rebuilt immediately next to it. The architectural concept, characterized by two corresponding buildings, was created by the RKW+ office from Düsseldorf.

The necessary development plan is being drawn up. The relevant plans and reports are currently being made available for public viewing. The planning process could be completed as early as summer. Harald Ortner, Managing Director of HBB: "We are pleased that after intensive negotiations and under difficult conditions in the retail sector, we were able to attract strong tenants for our project. Now we just have to take the next steps in the approval process together with the city in order to be able to implement the project."

EDEKA Minden-Hannover in profile
