addition to the city center
Halfway between Braunschweig and Hanover lies the district town of Peine, which was known primarily for its steel industry until the 70s. After that, the local industrial and commercial landscape began to diversify. Today, the town functions as a medium-sized center with a lively retail structure around the pedestrian zone. To complement this, HBB built an additional passage between Bahnhofstrasse and Schützenstrasse, which complements the existing shops with offers not yet represented in the city.

The design by the Seevetal-based nhp partnership office fits perfectly into the cityscape with its clinker brick facade, which is typical for Peine. The urban structure of the passage was coordinated with the development concept presented by the Braunschweig-based office Ackers Partner Städtebau. In total, the new City Gallery offers an area of around 9.000 m² gross floor area on two floors, for which HBB was able to attract tenants such as C&A and the home accessories chain Depot. Parking spaces were deliberately omitted from the building. After all, it is located almost directly next to the large central car park - so a visit to the gallery is always combined with a stroll through the city. Good for Peine.
