Garten am Wildbach: Attractive retirement home for Kempten
Kempten is located at the foot of the Alps. With 70.000 inhabitants, it is an important regional centre and, with one of the largest technical colleges in Bavaria, also an important educational location. Kempten is also considered the "economic locomotive" of the Swabia administrative district, attracting people from Allgäu, Baden-Württemberg and the Austrian federal states of Vorarlberg and Tyrol. The city has been known for around 2.000 years, and was first mentioned in Roman documents a few years before Christ under the name Cambodunum. To this day, Kempten - also within sight of the Zugspitze and the entire Wetterstein Mountains - is shaped by the Iller, which flows through it along its entire length.
brought the fallow garden to life
The site of a former nursery is located directly on the Rottach stream, one of the small tributaries of the Iller in the city, just a few hundred meters from the Iller. The 4.835 m2 The large plot is located on the corner of Memminger Strasse and Adenauerring, two important access axes. The house benefits from this location in two ways: on the one hand, it is perfectly connected to the nearby center and extremely visible. On the other hand, it offers a natural, protected retreat at the back with a garden directly on the wild stream. In a constructive collaboration with the city's design advisory board and the city of Kempten itself, we found a solution for this special place that was met with great approval from all sides. The building has an angled shape that favors the largest possible courtyard and a striking, modern architecture that makes it a landmark in the area. Its five floors plus a penthouse offer almost 10.000m2 Gross floor area 187 nursing places in 157 rooms. This creates a new, lively address between the two districts of Lotterberg and Breiten, which can be integrated into the urban community of Kempten in accordance with the motto "In the middle of life". With this house, the HBB is also approaching an anniversary: the house is our 49th senior citizen property.
