Special report in the Wetterauer Zeitung on the new nursing home for the elderly in Friedberg

Domicil senior care home in Mainzer-Tor-Anlage has 133 places
Friedberg – Despite the pandemic with all its imponderables, the new facility of DOMICIL Senioren-Residenzen Hamburg SE in Mainzer-Tor-Anlage was built within a short time. Jörg Erwin, Managing Director of the new Domicil facility, looks back on exciting months: “Opening a new facility in times of Corona is not quite trivial. In addition to the existing structural requirements, hygiene and safety must of course also be considered as important components. We are pleased that our long-standing partner, the project developer and investor HBB from Hamburg, has once again designed a high-quality facility for the care of senior citizens here for DOMICIL, which now offers a new home to 133 people in need of care.

All care levels
I am grateful for the great cooperation of everyone involved,” Erwin continued. “Starting with the investor HBB, the colleagues at our corporate headquarters and ending with the coordination with the employees in the Friedberg administration, I would like to express great praise for the active support and constructive cooperation. I am sure that with this new Domicil senior care home, we are not only providing a new contact point for seniors, but also enriching our neighborhood in Friedberg, for example through joint events or our open lunch table.” DOMICIL Senioren-Residenzen Hamburg SE is known for providing all services on site at the respective home. Thus, with the opening in July, about 85 new jobs were created both in the area of care, as well as in the in-house laundry, building cleaning and kitchen. Domicil in the Mainzer Tor complex cares for people in all degrees of care and offers an area for residents suffering from dementia. The diverse program of events and activities provides variety in the seniors’ daily lives. Despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, the investor HBB Hanseatische Gesellschaft für Seniorenimmobilien II mbH&Co.KG succeeded in completing the new DOMICIL senior care home in Friedberg on time. With the help of efficient partners, in particular the general contractor Riedel Bau GmbH & Co.KG from Schweinfurt and the general contractor for the inventory, Heinrich Hünicke GmbH&Co.KG from Lübeck, the house was realized and completely furnished in 20 months construction time. In the centrally located quarter between Mainzer-Tor-Anlage and Carl-Damm-Strasse, where the Dunker car dealership was located until mid-2011, the new building with a gross floor area of around 7500 square meters has been built. The new senior citizens’ property has 133 nursing places, mainly in single rooms, for its future residents. The historicizing yet clear architecture blends seamlessly into the adjacent high-quality residential and villa district to the west. Attention to detail and plenty of daylight are the main features of the two- and partly three-story building, which was constructed in a U-shape facing the high-quality garden in the direction of Carl-Damm-Strasse. The rooms exceed the current legal requirements in terms of size and allow for individual design on the part of the residents, who can also bring their own furniture if they wish. Thanks to its own canteen kitchen, HBB enables the operator to offer a high-quality culinary range for the residents and guests of the home. The in-house laundry also sets quality standards in the housekeeping area, makes ecological sense and avoids delivery traffic. Like all DOMICIL homes, the home in the Mainzer-Tor-Anlage has a lovingly landscaped, in-house garden with selected planting that invites residents to stroll or linger. “The residents should be given a feeling of security combined with the greatest possible safety,” says Managing Director Oliver Radünz.

Garden facility
HBB has invested around 20 million euros in the realization of this home. Already in June, shortly before the opening of the new house, Mayor Dirk Antkowiak was able to gain a first impression of the newly built facility during a detailed walk-through together with the representatives of the Municipal Office for Social and Cultural Services and Facilities Christine Böhmerl, Sebastian Dein and Simone Köhl.

Carolin Babett Erler, facility manager, and her team will be happy to provide information and give tours.
