Rathaus Galerie Essen Food Mall opening
Rathaus Galerie Essen opens its new food court
Essen, 16 September 2022 – Essen city centre is getting a new attraction: On Thursday, 15 September, the new food court of the Rathaus Galerie EssenIn the future, 1.200 catering concepts and a seating area with a high quality of stay will offer customers a new catering experience on almost 14 square meters. "The Rathaus Galerie in Essen should once again become the meeting place for Essen and the surrounding area, like the place next door for the Ruhrpottler. Our new food court will be a place to watch football, to snack and to meet friends and family. The catering units with their various offerings invite you to fortify yourself at picnic tables or to quickly grab a coffee or fries. Everyone should feel at home here," explains Frederik Westhoff, Center Manager Essen at HBB Centermanagement GmbH & Co KG.
The culinary spectrum is as diverse as it is international. It ranges from kebabs and gyros to pizza, burgers, schnitzel and currywurst to Asian dishes. "The offer is rounded off by a great café concept. But we want to expand the gastronomic spectrum to include other unusual concepts," says Westhoff. "Negotiations are already underway."
Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 21 pm
The new food court in Essen is open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 21 p.m. In addition to the culinary offerings, it offers a large LED wall showing content typical of the Ruhr region, a children's play area in the seating area, as well as Wi-Fi and a business area with various connections for notebooks and other technical devices.
As part of the renovation work, the north side of the Rathaus Galerie was opened up and fitted with floor-to-ceiling windows so that more daylight can enter the interior. The design of the food court is characterized by a mix of different materials and colors that are based on the typical characteristics of the Ruhr area: Industry-inspired materials meet the colorful architecture of the kiosks and the plants from the allotment garden. Pott-known art and culture are also being reinterpreted and supporting the design of the "newcomers" in the area as decoration. With the food court, the first of five construction phases has been completed. HBB is planning further renovation work to give the Rathaus Galerie a new shine in the future. "Our goal is to exert a strong attraction on existing and new customers with new, exciting tenants and innovative concepts. The basis for this is an individual mix of industries and tenants tailored to the Essen location," Westhoff continues.
