Start of construction work for the HBB business quarter
The complex renovation and the extensive demolition of the old justice center have already been completed and the construction of the new quarter is starting - as originally planned - in the next few days. The Moß company, which is responsible for the demolition, is handing over the construction site to the joint venture with the companies August Prien and Hans Lamers, who will build the shell. The Medicke company will build the facades. Despite the corona pandemic, the construction work is so far proceeding according to plan.
Important project for the HBB
The Viktoria Karree is a successful example of a mixed-use district in the inner cities of large cities. 38.000 square meters of rental space plus an underground car park will be built across three parts and seven floors. The building ensemble opens up with its open structure to Husemannplatz, which the city will be redesigning over the next two years in parallel with the construction project. Although HBB is developing and building numerous other projects, the Viktoria Karree represents a special project due to its volume and importance for the city.
For HBB Managing Director Kai Steindl, who has taken on overall technical responsibility, the focus is now on completing the project on time in 2022: "We have put together a strong team and are receiving excellent support from the city in implementing it. The tenants are already looking forward to the opening."
New tenants with great appeal for the city center
With the start of construction, HBB has already rented out over 90 percent of the total space. It was already known that the city of Bochum would rent around 15.000 square meters of office space as a long-term partner. In addition, the international co-working provider Regus was able to rent a further 3.000 square meters of office space. The Tristar Group from Berlin will open a Holiday Inn Express hotel with 170 rooms.
The first two levels are dominated by retail, leisure and gastronomy. The French company Decathlon will open a large sports store. Rewe Dortmund will operate a fresh-oriented food market to supply the district and the surrounding area. At the easyApotheke, customers will be able to find everything related to health. The Görgens Group from Cologne will offer a large selection of streetwear fashion.
In addition, various gastronomic offerings will enrich the district and the adjacent Husemannplatz. A food lounge with various international offerings will be created on an area of over 1.000 m². Another restaurant will be located directly at the transition to Husemannplatz and will also invite customers to linger on a spacious outdoor terrace.
