Garten am Wildbach: Attractive senior citizens’ home for Kempten

The Hamburg-based investor and project developer, the HBB Group, is building its first senior citizens’ nursing home in Kempten on behalf of Scheck Dritte Grundbesitz KG. The construction company Glöckle SF-Bau GmbH from Schweinfurt has been commissioned with the construction.

The necessary demolition work will begin as early as April 2022, followed directly by building construction work on the site. Completion of the building is scheduled for the I quarter of 2024.
The new senior citizens’ nursing home was designed by the renowned architectural firm of
Broll Förster Architekten Part mbB from Berlin.

The structure consists of a building section with a basement, 5 full floors and a staggered floor. The house will be built for 187 residents and will have predominantly single rooms, the size of which exceeds the legal requirements. This allows for individual design by the residents, who can bring their own furniture if they wish.

The property, a former market garden, is around 4,835 sqm in size and is located directly on the Rottach torrent, one of the small tributaries of the Iller River on the city’s territory, right on the street corner of Memminger Straße and Adenauerring. The building benefits doubly from this location: on the one hand, it is perfectly connected to the nearby center and is highly visible. But on the other hand, it offers a near-natural, protected retreat at the rear with a garden area directly on the torrent, according to the managing director of the Hamburg-based investor, Oliver Radünz.

In total, the senior care home has a gross floor area of around 10,000 sqm. In the rear part of the property, as is usual for DOMICIL homes, there is a high-quality, tranquil garden area, planned by the respected Kiel landscape architects BHF.

According to Oliver Radünz, in a constructive collaboration with the city’s design advisory board and the city of Kempten, an architecturally striking solution could be found for this special place with great approval from all sides. Thus, a new, lively address is created between the two districts of Lotterberg and Breiten, which can be integrated into the city community of Kempten in accordance with the DOMICIL motto “Mitten im Leben” (“In the midst of life”).

We are investing around 30 million euros here, continues managing director Oliver Radünz. In addition, about 80 new jobs will be created. HBB is one of the most successful project developers of senior care homes in Germany in the last 20 years according to a study by the management consultancy Avocons.
